Chicken Butchering Workshop

Chicken Butchering Workshop

This is a small group workshop where you will take a live chicken and go through the humane butchering process we use on the farm. You will learn proper dispatch technique, scalding, plucking, cleaning (anatomy lesson here!), and finally learn methods to break down the chicken into its different cuts & take it home to feed your family. This event is good for the adventurous family (kids 8 and up with parental discretion), or the culinary master ready to really have a deeper connection to where their food comes from. You will leave with your chicken, and a memorable morning!

$75 per person includes 1 chicken to take home.

Homeschool Farm Day

Homeschool Farm Day

May’s homeschool farm day will be an exploration of the chicken! Farm friends will meet and feed our laying hens, and our broiler birds. We will learn about the life cycle of a chicken and learn how to candle an egg to check for fertilization. Friends will then do a chicken craft with provided art supplies and our actual chicken feathers (from monthly wing trimmings!) as we learn about different breeds and the anatomy of a chicken. This lesson will be good for children of all ages! Price is $5/person (children one and under free).
